AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE OF PIGS’ PRODUCERS: a warranty of 100% Italian origin

PRO SUS is the major Italian Cooperative of Pigs producers, which at the present time counts more than 70 member breeders in Lombardia and Emilia Romagna.

Founded in 1985, since from the beginning has always made of slaughtering and processing of pork meat only of Italian origin its core business, for a product of 100% Italian, completely traceable in each step of the processing, from the farm to the consumers’ dish.

In the plant of Vescovato are slaughtered only Italian pigs belonging to the D.O.P. Parma and San Daniele Circuits. Those circuits have very strict farming protocols that impose well-defined rules: the animals must have been born and must be raised in Italy: this is the reason why each ham has impressed the farm stamp; the pigs feeding must follow fixed indications and each breeding step has to be traceable.

Over the 70% of the 800.000 pigs slaughtered per year are supplied by breeders associated to the Cooperative, but PRO SUS, in its role of head-chain, can ensure the Italian origin of the animals delivered by non-associated breeders too.

This warranty of 100% Italian origin is the greatest added value of the PRO SUS brand products, to which is summed the aim at creating its own production protocol, subscribed by all the members: a path recently taken just in order to focus more and more on the quality of the PRO SUS pork.
